The Precinct

Nestled in the heart of Vic Park this little eatery is fast becoming a favourite.  We celebrated Karina's belated birthday breakfast at The Precinct.  Warm and inviting with an organic relaxed feel serving up fresh seasonal produce with it's own little twist.  A winning formula that it is most certainly working well with the place bustling of full tables and happy patrons.

We did have to wait a little for our orders which I have come to expect on a Sunday with a full house.  The wait was worth every minute and it's always nice to ogle your plate with a rumbling tummy. My green eggs and ham were presented in such a kooky fashion  that Dr Seuss himself would be proud.  The spinach foam was delicate and bursting with flavour, and the eggs perfectly set.  Toasties crammed with peanut butter, bacon and banana were beckoning so we ordered a serve to all share.  I think I have found my new hangover go to.  The bean cassoulet and herbed soft polenta were both tasty, wholesome dishes.

Thank you for another charming experience.  We will be back.

Bivouac

Bouzy breakfast at Bivouac is fast becoming tradition. Best porridge of my life greatly enhanced by wonderful company.  Yes Aaron Rutter YOU!  I am just over the moon (and then some) to be working with team at Jump Climb a whole lot more.  I just know they will be radcakes in their new role as Directors of the Beaufort Street Festival.  I am pretty sure all our meetings will be over food.  Bliss. Aaron's "local yolkal" menu choice prompted many eggcellent jokes. What a crack up ..

Daily Planet

It is always too long between ... ummm breakfasts with Liz.  When we catch up its always amaze! Liz has her own blog Breakfast in Perth and is getting pretty famous now!  Very exciting that she is taking her writing to the next level under the wing of Rob Broadfield for the Good Food Guide.  AMAZING! So proud! We spent the morning pondering food, friends, reminiscing on Teknoscape days and Perth Dance Music Awards. I eat so healthy at home and at work ... its the dining out where I tend to be extravagant.  For the average person that is fine. That is what life is about ... every now and then going out and spoiling yourself.  BUT my butt has been expanding due to the fact that I eat out a hell a lot more than your average Joanne.

I ordered the vegan stack.  Not something I would usually order but I just felt like having salad for breakfast seeing as my cold has stopped me from sweating out in the hot room.  Caitlin (best barista and full of fun) informed they were out of avocado but had added honeyed parsnip. Naturally the chickpea fritter was a little dry but the aioli and juiciness of the tomatoes made up for it.  The parsnip was definitely a welcome addition and the verde added freshness.  So nice to walk away from breky not in a carb coma!

I thought the food was really reasonably priced and it was so damn good to order a Caitlin again.   Free wifi is always a plus too!  Don't read all the urban goon reviews until you have made up your own mind.

THE CAITLIN: ristretto, honey, ice + a red haired barista These bad boys have gotten me through many many meetings.

Picco's Kitchen

Picco's Kitchen is one of those diamonds in the rough. All the way down Peninsular Road in Maylands this little slice of heaven will hopefully remain hidden from the masses.  Oh so refreshing to rock up for breky and not be greeted with a line and a 40 minute wait for coffees.  The food is fresh, honest and just feel like you are in friend's family kitchen. The black pudding was rich and perfect and it absolutely defeated me.

Bivouac

After waiting for a table at Toast and then at the Sentinel and then being told it would be 30 minutes to actually receive a caffeine injection ... it occurred to me ... BIVOUAC! Saturday morning around 10.30 and were sitting out the front sipping lattes on William Street by 10.35 ahhhhh. Perfect! There is nothing worse than someone eyeing off your table as you get your breakfast willing you to scoff and run .. actually there is something worse ... being the eyeballing asshole.

I am possibly Bivouac's biggest fan of late. A mixture of staff whom I just LOVE, food that never fails and good honestly priced booze. I love that the menu changes often enough to keep things interesting but I can say "omg you have to try this" and not frown. We opted for the eggs and bouzy combos.

The Bloody Marys were so pretty with a punchy kick of horseradish. I ordered a Salute the Sun with a poached egg and Baron Gutter had the Gypsy Baked Eggs which were perfectly cooked with googy egg.

Please visit Bivouac for a tasty, no fuss, NO FKING LINE, kinda breakfast. The best kind.

West End Deli

We have always dubbed ourselves "booty babes".  The four of us all became close after a gruelling two months of bootcamp when we used to be fit and run up and down Jacobs and Kokoda for fun.  We always say ... yea we should really get back to booty huh .. I hate that I have lost my fitness ... we were sooooo skinny ... ummm we havent been since 2008, maybe thats why. Our catch ups these days are far more sensible, over one or all of the following: caffeine, booze, soul nourishing food.

I just love West End Deli. Its pretty timeless and has never ever failed me.   I could eat the mushroom terrine with blue cheese butter every day for the rest of my life.
