I'm diggin' the influx of great cafes popping up in the 'burbs. Hylin is one of those places you'll just keep coming back to. Loved the chilli poached eggs with healthy dose of halloumi. Welcome to West Leederville!
EAT | PICCOLO'S CORNER (Leederville, WA)
Oh how I love lazy Sundays! Waking up to your body's natural circadian rhythm, dappled sunlight streaming through curtains gently rouse you from the deepest slumber. Its a hell of a lot nicer than jolting up in the dark to the ruckus of an alarm clock. As Winter creeps in, the mornings grow crisp and it's so tempting to hit the snooze button. Sometimes just knowing that a mood-lifting, soul-warming cup of joe is in reach makes mornings so much brighter.
Tucked away in West Leederville, a suburb fast becoming home to many gorgeous local haunts, is one of my favourite spots for a caffeine fix and lazy breakfast. Piccolo's Corner is only three years young and has earned its stripes as one of Perth's best breakfast joints. A cheerful little place that continues to serve wholesome dishes using vibrant, fresh local produce. Located on a quiet residential street, clad in vintage and verge rescued finds, a quaint corner home-come-cafe hugged by a lush green garden. Great coffee, food and service and definitely worth springing out of bed for on a chilly autumn Sunday.
Avocado smash with peas, chorizo, fetta, poached egg on gluten free toast with a side of beetroot pesto and Piccolo's big breakfast served with bacon, tomato relish, poached eggs and toast.
EAT | PIXEL COFFEE (Leederville, WA)
The ghost of old Kanga
I'm not talking about an outback Aussie pub where the toilet is down the grassy footpath and the menu consists of soggy chips and two day old pie. This is Bill's Bars & Bites, named after the first settler in Leederville, William Leeder or Bill as he was affectionately known. Bill's offers small bites and an awesome drink list with a stellar fit out. One visit will have you heading back for more.
Sunday strolls
Early morning Sunday strolls around Leederville Farmers Markets is such a peachy way to start the day.
A quick browse at The School of Life pop up, a generous serve of Shak Shuka and a coffee to go from Higher Grounds .. triple delights.
Snags & Sons
A wet winter's night called for a trip Snags & Sons with my fab friends Jessica Shaver and Pia Poynton. Fresh from a Nøgne Ø tasting at the International Beer Shop the girls had plenty to share including a lovely bottle of Brooklyn Sorachi Ace. It tasted of distant balmy summer nights. The perfect match to my Toulouse Sausage crammed with creamy brie and caramelised onions. Sausage loving, beer drinking and plotting to take over the world ... perfect.

Oh I love this little coffee shop in Leederville! Maybe it is because my friend Terri works there and I get to see her little face or maybe it's the relaxed kitschy vintage feel and gorgeous little desserts and abundant tea choice. Who cares. Just visit. If this place had wifi I would never ever leave.
Snags & Sons
In a city devoid of a good sausage shop along comes Snags & Sons. Justin Bell of Jus Burgers fame saw the gap and crammed it with this deli-style gem in Leederville. Always one to champion local produce, Justin has ensured that the tastiest snags around Perth are finally getting a nudge and devotion. What's not to love about the humble hot dog when it's made to taste this good. We went early Sunday evening to find a little line creeping down the street. Taking our seats at the high bar style tables we studied the menu for far too long. The hot dogs were simple yet tasty and I am always happy to get change from ten bucks. A great place to pop in for a cheap and cheerful catch up or bite before a movie at Luna.
Amelia Park beef snag BEEF BOEREWORS South African peach chutney, smoked Dutch cheese & baguette Mount Barker chicken snag RED CURRY SAUSAGE tamarind chutney, Asian salad, chilli in wrap Chittering Valley venison Snag VENISON horseradish cream, beetroot, apple & ginger jam & baguette
The red curry sausage was definitely the winner on the taste scale. My venison was a little on the dry side but was singing with a balance of flavours. Relish always works with game meat. I don't think I have found my favourite yet though so I will keep going back until I do.
Sayers Food
Bubble and squeak with spinach pesto, poached eggs, tomato and beetroot confit served with sourdough. A Sayers breakfast is always worth the wait.
